Checked this afternoon and the car park is closed. Not sure if it was closed for Covid-19 or just to protect birds nesting but they have not bothered opening up either way. Parking is available the other side of the road or in the bit approaching the closed gate. Did a slightly longer walk than yours today and only saw 3 people and only one would have seen me but even then he took a different path. As the Ocknell camp site has not opened and will probably not this year I think there are probably fewer people about.

    • DavidA says:

      Yes, thanks for this Rob.
There is a slightly longer walk up to Mogshade Hill (coming soon) – is that the route you were referring to?

Also, the Ocknell Pond car park is closed throughout the winter months usually being opened 1st April but with Covid this year, it has remained closed. Parking is available over the road at Cadmans Pool.

      • Rob says:

My route just widens your route and ends up just under 5 miles and doable comfortably in 1hr 45m. I did it yesterday in 1hr 30m but it was a bit chilly so I was keeping warm :). Have just emailed a copy to you.

Ocknell Pond car park opened again yesterday. Typical isn’t it. Do you think NFPA are reading your blog? πŸ™‚

  5. Evolet J says:

I did wonder about this too.
Good little research, keep up the good work

  6. Craig says:

Very interested to try a long walk. But a bit worried I haven’t done it before. What is the best time of the week to go so to avoid textiles? Im pretty new to this, bit have alot of time to give it a go.

    • DavidA says:

Hi Craig. I would say best time is during the week and head out around 10am (ish) for a couple of hours. Of course, we can’t guarantee that you won’t encounter any textiles but all I have come across are pretty OK and don’t bat an eyelid. If you email me, I’ll let you know when I’m next going and you can have a socially distanced walk πŸ˜€

      • Craig says:

I went out and had a look today. Seems like a very good place. A little to cold at the moment.
I don’t know how to email you? But yeah sounds good

        • DavidA says:

Yes, weather can be a problem. I was hoping for another walk on Saturday but with 90% chance of rain, might need the umbrella :D.

Anyway, you can email me using via the Contact page; link above.

  7. Anon says:

Mark Bass from BN banned me after complaining of discrimination against me. I provided several dozen pieces of evidence to support my case and am now taking my complaint to the Information Commissioner’s Office as I have a valid membership, yet I am unable to access my personal information held by BN.
BN are ignoring my emails. I totally agree with many of your points and can’t emphasise how ignorant, rude, and arrogant the leadership of this organisation is.
Happy to join any group willing to take action against this band of Nazis!

    • DavidA says:

Sorry to hear this but apparently is normal for those at the higher end of organisation to be so incredulously despondent about their members. Unfortunately, you won’t have any luck – they will continue to ignore you.

  8. Vin says:

Agree that this is a lovely beach but have never seen anyone wandering naked along the shoreline, which is what my wife and I would like to do. There are so many dog walkers you would be seriously outnumbered. Most naturist sit against the cliff with a risk of falling debris

    • DavidA says:

I’ve walked the shoreline several times but yes, you’re right, most naturists do tend to sit close to the cliff. Dog walkers are never an issue; had some smile and wave but most just walk by. Keep an eye on the site as we’ll be setting up a group soon and you’ll be more than welcome to join.

  9. Vin says:

    Thanks. I’ll check the site

  10. Adrian Brown says:

I know how bad BN is especially Tracy Majors I had to give my credit card details to BN so I could attend a event, BN kept my details on there computer legally then sent them to a third party with out my consent, it took Tracey two & half months to omit to doing it never got a explanation nor apology, they did give me a free years membership, but because Tracey would not answer my questions over hen incident I left B.N ,I had been a member for thirty years & this is the way they treated me, the so called events manager Mark Walsh got involved in it & accused me of not having clue what I was talking about.Just shows what a organisation B.N is

    • DavidA says:

Yes, I’m not sure how BN are surviving these days with all the bad press from ex-members and the inefficiencies within the organisation itself. Maybe we do need a new naturist governing body within the UK.

  11. STEVE DENYER says:

It really is a great shame that you people cannot get on. There seems to be a number of trouble makers within BN and it has soured what should be a great organisation. Instead of you all slagging each other off while trying to score points over one another how about just sticking to the rules and accept that certain content is not suitable for BN. You haven’t actually published what it is you allegedly said so anybody reading this cannot form an opinion. Whether you are right or wrong, instead of making petty wars and creating divisive web sites why don’t you just go away and get a life?

    • DavidA says:

Thanks for your comment although you do seem to be a bit “high and mighty” toward the end but in the interests of transparency (not something you will get from BN) I have approved your post exactly as you have written with no editing.

Everything about why I was kicked out of BN is within the post; did you read all of it? I have also stated I am happy to share any documentation with anyone wishing to review it themselves, I have nothing to hide. The fact is, and what has also been reported by a number of other ex-BN members, that unless you tow the line with what the EC want and accept that the forum mods are above the law and can censor you and/or remove your posts WITHOUT providing you with any reason for doing so, then you’re on the radar. I know one one member who had ALL of his posts “held” for moderation before they were posted. And BN speaks about freedom of speech?

Everyone is entitled to their opinion – BN decided I wasn’t and that is why they kicked me. Can’t get along? We can do as long we do what the EC says. Scoring points? Just telling the truth, let people decide for themselves. Sticking to the rules? Of course, except BN interprets them to suit their own agenda. Do you know what the content was that I posted? It was factual, historical information about slavery – nothing controversial but BN called me racist! And really, “why don’t you just go away and get a life?” that is just a little bit childish, isn’t it?

      • Annon please says:

Everything I post is checked by same moderator constantly, she also constantly checks my profile. I too have been banned several times for complaining about her and the censorship of BN EC.
And yes often ignored when contacting them.
Was once censored for posting inappropriate photographs, one was a picture of my newborn kitten and the other a picture of a full moon (The celestial Moon),

  12. John says:

Is the car park at Ocknell Pond still closed? (April 2021)

    • DavidA says:

Hi John. Apologies for delay – I was planning a walk out today (15th April) so wanted to check. The Ocknell car park is still closed so will need to park over the road at Cadman’s Pool.

  13. Louis says:

Anyone planning to walk this week as the weather is looking superb?

    • DavidA says:

Hi Louis; probably not a good way to see if anyone is up for a walk on here as posts don’t often get seen quick enough. I am planning a “club” which any naturist can join (free) with a dedicated messaging system so impromptu walks can take place at short notice. Watch the website.

  14. Brian Heyworth says:

I would be interested if you do plan a walk, I’ve done about 4 walks round there naked last couple of years

    • DavidA says:

Keep an eye on the “Club” page where these walks (and other events) will be listed as and when they’re planned. We also plan to have a dedicated messaging group too.

  15. Brian h says:

I’m hoping to do more walks in that area. I usually park at the Canadian memorial then under the A31 then Ocknell Pond and back. Let me know if there’s anything planned

  16. Phil says:

Thanks for sharing these walks. I originally come from the area and visit now and then. I’ve been trying to find some “safe” places to walk, so it’s nice to know of a few tried and tested routes.

I was looking at the possibility of a few near Brockenhurst (Denny Wood/Standing Hat area) or possibly near to the High Corner Inn (Woodford Bottom). I’ve only walked TO these places and gone nude, rather than walk nude around them.

I may be heading down to try the Milkham route this week.

    • DavidA says:

I’ll have a look at routes over that side; not really done anything that side of the A31 yet but is on the list. Watch this space.

  17. The Naked Nudist says:

I was a member of BN some years ago and with my late wife we attended the Nudefest. Andrew Welch gave a very boring talk and made Nudism seem political. Added to that his partner and a female member of BN staff sat fully clothed looking more bored than we were. I and many others walked out. Hardly a good advert for the being a BN member.
Added to this on what was a fine spell of weather did the two females participate in being naturists. We had a good time and lived naked for the whole time we were there but i was not impressed by the BN entourage and curtailed my membership.

  18. Phil says:

8% chance of encountering “textiles” (I don’t like that terminology, but hey!)? First 5 minutes of walking today, I encounter three. A cyclist and two walkers. I didn’t get time to put my shorts on with the cyclist and saw the walkers in plenty of time.

    Good walk though!

    • DavidA says:

Hi Phil and many thanks for your comment. The 8% chance of encountering textiles is based on an average; sometimes I have seen absolutely no one for the entire walk and other times I have come across around a dozen but on the whole, the area is pretty devoid of human activity. Also, a lot depends on what day and time you walk too; obviously weekends will see more people than during the week and lunchtimes seems to be the busier time too.

Anyway, glad you enjoyed your walk and hopefully many more to come.

      • Phil says:

To be honest, it was just my kind of luck!

It was mid-morning and mid-week. So it should have been relatively quiet. The cyclist just rode past and said ‘Hi’. And although I think the walkers saw me fumbling to put my shorts on, they didn’t say anything and didn’t even look bothered.

I’m not very confident going nude in places I don’t know for the first time. I’ll definitely do it again and hopefully bring someone along with me too.

I no longer live in the area, but will try getting down and discovering some places of my own. If I do, I’ll post them here.

        • DavidA says:

Excellent – yes, any walks let us know and don’t forget pictures too.

          • There’s the path that takes you under the A31, that can be busy, there’s some paths just for walking to the east of the cycle path I use. Don’t know how to send pics

          • DavidA says:

I think I know the one you mean; as you walk along the track from Ocknell Pond, there is a small clump forest on the left and a subway that takes you under the A31 – is that the one you mean? If so, continue along it and it takes you up to Mogshade Hill and the Canadian War Memorial. You can park up this side and do the Ocknell walk in reverse and yes, that side of the A31 does get a little busier.

For sending pics, just use the Contact Us page and click the “Choose File” button to select your images and click send or you can email them to admin@greatbritishnaturism.co.uk

  19. OK cheers, yes I normally park at Canadian war memorial then up to Cadmans pool then back to Ocknell, 20 minute break there then back. Usually quiet

  20. Louise says:

Hi i would love to join someone on a walk 10th or 11th June preferably early morning, im fairly new to naturism so if anyone is free?

  21. Did a twist on the normal route. 6 miles, along the path under the A31 turn left and head up to Andrews mare lake, then try another path back to the A31 tunnel

  22. John says:

    Hello
I’ve enjoyed a couple of early Sunday morning naked walks from Ocknell in the past month, both starting at Cadnam Pool and sort of cirumnavigating Slufter’s Inclosure. Looking forward to further exploration of the vicinity , I’m more familiar with the area around Denny Lodge and Shatterford which is more forest and less heath.
Also pleasantly surprised by Longdown too, stopped off for a late evening walk last week, very quiet area op open forest and heath considering it’s only a mile or so down the road from Colbury.

  23. Paul says:

What post code do you put in for the Ocknell Pond car park as I want to visit this Friday afternoon?

  24. John says:

Anyone still bothering with any cover up when encountering textiles, as all legal to be nude these days?

    Always take copy of guidance:

    https://library.college.police.uk/docs/nudity.pdf

    • DavidA says:

I still do cover up but it really depends on the situation. If I’ve already been seen, then I tend not to bother unless it’s a group of school children or something like that. If I see them first, then I consider the options. You must also consider your own safety too – there was a report of a naturist beaten up for being nude so although it’s not illegal, not every knows that OR cares.

  25. Jj says:

We also got booted for a similar reason lol

  26. Nick says:

Visited Ocknell pond just for the walk.
Due to car park being closed (massive bonus as less people on walk)
I parked in Cadmans pool/pond opposite side of the road. You get GPS signal throughout the walk. But if relying on map take a screenshot and conserve battery by turning flight mode on. I had 15% batt lol
Found the carpark, said hello to the very friendly calves. Yes it was Sunday…. Golden rule for less textiles is weekdays.
If ever there was a time to get the clothes off, this was it.
Sun cream on and sarong to hand.
20 minutes later, I came across two old families on bikes. Sarong on confidently said hello a few smiles and hellos back and carried on. The rest of the walk was amazing too.

Great beach, long walk to get there

    • admin says:

Depends how brave you are πŸ™‚ The naturist part starts about 200-300 yards past the beach huts but most people tend to go further down the beach. Shame that parking charges now apply to the car park too.

  31. Mat says:

I tend to walk here quite regularly on Sundays had a few bemused looks from textiles but no adverse reactions so far.

  32. Naked Christine says:

BN gained a lot of new members during the pandemic.
What doesnt seem to bother them enough is the attrition rate at first renewal. For any business, repeat business is the mainstay.
I got suckered in by the promise of events and making friends, but unless you live in the few areas of the country which have vibrant and active memberships, that promise just doesnt hold water. Once I’d joined, I discovered that the nearest event to me was 2.5 hours drive away and without events, its really hard to find local naturists to make friends with. I wont be renewing my membership

    • admin says:

I too got suckered in by that promise – and the one about a BN membership opening doors to other events; neither happened which left me a bit sour.

BN is VERY keen for members to start organising events (which is what I do in the Southampton area) but the question is, why do we even need BN then?

    • Saun Malcolm says:

BN is a business, it is only interested in making money. They claim to be for naturists but all they do is promote membership, not actual naturism. Since their relaunch, all I have seen is clothed individuals giving talks or naked people showing off on TV. Their ideals have slipped greatly from promoting naturism and the ideals of naturism, to exhibitionism, nakedness (anywhere and at any time) and nudity. Naturism ISN’T nudity. It isn’t exhibitionism and should never promoted as such. Having spoken to individuals who have worked for BN, the executive and regional branches, they all speak of sexism, chauviniatic ideals and male dominated environments that promote exhibisionism. As I said, nothing to do with true Naturism.

  33. Anon says:

I was just about to sign up for a membership belt I read these comments, I won’t be joining nor. I remember the forums and information was free on the BN website at one point to allow easy access to like minded people, everything is now behind a pay wall, shocking.

  34. Alan says:

If hiding is an admission of wrongdoing, then so is covering in the presence on non-nude person’s.
At least you are saying, you are right Mr.Textile there is something wrong with my body and should be covered.

    • admin says:

What I’m saying is that jumping into the bushes and hiding is a suspicious activity so it’s best not to do that. With regard to covering, I am simply saying do a risk assessment first. Ultimately, we all want to be safe out there (especially when nude) so if you spot a group of people of say a younger generation, would it not be advisable to dress and therefore negate any potential conflict? Apply the same risk assessment to that chap walking his dog and I’d probably not cover up at all. If it was a lone woman, then I might put on my shorts or certainly cover my genitals. Although, legally, there is no issue being nude outdoors, what I am saying is let’s not purposely antagonise or appear threatening. You would rather just have the “good morning” and move on rather than a conversation with the police.

  35. I have recently conducted a study into the current state of BN and have to say the organisation is an irrelevance. The information I found suggests membership has actually declined in recent years, what is clear is that BN is run by a very small group of people who could perhaps be accurately described as ‘zealots’, their prime aim appears to be maintaining control by excluding members from any active role within management of BN, they are not open to new ideas and are in fact quite hostile. I was elected Chairman of the BN North West Region in November 2021 but was immediately and consistently undermined the Regional Co-ordinator, behaviour of other committee members was appalling, no sign of naturist values here, the committee were not allowed to contact BN members directly or indirectly, the Executive Committee exercise strict control, like BN the region is controlled by a very small group, it surprised me to see how terrified they are of the ‘protestors’ to the point they don’t even mention family events. 3.8 million people in the UK identify as being Naturist/Nudists, of the BN membership of 9,800 only around 600 play any part within the organisation, sadly I feel BN has become a highly toxic and unpleasant organisation actually damaging to the cause of Naturism.

  36. Dave says:

    Anyone tried recently?
Carpark still closed but have a short try

    • admin says:

I was there about a week ago (beginning July) and it was still closed. Did mean you could do a 100% nude walk without fear of bumping into poeple πŸ™‚

  37. Mick says:

Hi a big thank you to all on this blog encouraged to do my first Nude hike today parked in Cadman Pools crossed over the road then shorts off and twice round Ocknell Pond route plus lunch did not see another soul for 2.5 hours in total bliss. Will be there again for sure thanks again .

  38. John says:

I had a great walk from Miklham car park last Sunday, 7am start I managed a couple of hours around Milkham / Roe enclosure. Naked apart from the first / last quarter mile. Not sure on the exact route, I tend to follow my nose, but ended u[ at Roe Cottage and followed Linford Brook for a while. Also a place where a path disappeared into dense trees and turned into a sort of tunnel . Not sure if I’d be able to find that again, but look forward to more exploration on a weekday.

A couple of weeks ago I managed a circuit from Pigbush to Woodfidley, over the railway and into Denny Lodge enclosure , very quiet, a still grey evening which turned to a very pleasant light drizzle. No other vehicles in the car park when I got back, so naked all the way apart from crossing the line a t Woodfidley Lodge.

  39. Louise says:

Hi anyone fancy joining me for a walk Aug 6th anytime?

  40. Vitaliy says:

Hi there. My name is Vitaliy and I’m Ukrainian but live in London since 2017. Most of the time I’m nude at home but never did naked walks outdoor. So today I’ve decided to take a shoot at Ocknell Pond. I’ve arrived around 5pm, the car park was closed so I parked at the car park across the road. There was just one car so I thought it’s not busy time. I walked enough to not be seen from the road and took my clothes off. It’s really good feelings to be naked in nature. I’ve met people there just twice – first time it was two women cycling and I didn’t have enough time to take my shorts on, they popped up from a corner and I took my hat to cover myself. They looked quite surprised to see naked man but just quick hello and they went away. Second time was at the end of route. it was group of people and when they spotted me, they start laugh so loud so I’ve managed to take shorts on, get to the car and drive home.
So here is my very first and such sad experience. I understand that people can react different but I’m not sure if I will do it again, maybe I would but not alone. Unfortunately, I have no friends who can be interested in such events.

    • admin says:

Hi Vitaliy and welcome to GBN. Glad you managed to get out for a walk which I hope you found enjoyable. You will encounter different reactions to nudity and with experience, you will find the best way that suits you on how you react to them. Quite often, it is too late to cover up as sometimes people do just appear so you just need to smile, say hello and walk on. Remember, nudity is NOT illegal and you’re doing nothing wrong. When I’m out walking, I am always looking forward as well as behind in order to get as much advance notice of other people as possible – then I can decide how I am going to handle the situation. Some walkers don’t cover up, others do.

We have a Whatsapp group here for people who want to meet up and go for a walk or the beach – if you email me your number, I’ll add you.

      • Vitaliy says:

Thank you. I really enjoyed the walk. Maybe exept the moment when I met that group of people. Luck of experience, I guess)). But everything was great.
I’m gonna email you my phone number through “Contact us” form. Would be great to meet you guys.

  41. Robert says:

Yes Aug 6 is good as we are in for better weather again
I live in the New Forest
And I have a Ukrainian family with me now
But I miss the nude beach in Kyiv

  42. Robert says:

The car park was closed yesterday August 11th

  43. John H says:

Saturday morning was the first time I’ve bumped into a fellow naked hiker, although I was clothed at the time. Was it one of the guys on here? Anout half a mile south of Ocknell car park, around 10am. Tall, tanned (of course) elderly chap with black bumbag and wearing SOS Talisman, we chatted briefly and went our separate ways, I stripped off for the remainder of the walk back to the car.

    • Bob says:

I did the Ocknell walk with a group of four people about three years ago, but lost contact with them. Would love to go naked hiking again, but don’t really fancy doing it on my own as I am worried about meeting unsavoury types of people. At least when there is more than one of you, you feel safer.
If anyone is planning to do the walk in the near future (September) then please let us know so that we can join you.

  44. robert Eyles says:

The car park is open now Aug 23.
However it will be closed 2pm Aug 25 until the next day
There is signage both here and other car parks with the same message
    Hope this is helpful az

  45. Adrian Parsons says:

I just assess the situation and act accordingly. I never put shorts on, its just a bag over my genitals.

  46. Sam says:

BN seem to be a massive culty clique. I cancelled my membership as they offered nothing to me in London and to be frank the YBN activities were pretty much redundant. Im now banned from everything

  47. Robert says:

Maybe the weather will be good enough for a walk this Saturday
Usually I don’t see anyone once away from the car park

  48. Robert says:

The weather looks promising in Monday at the moment as well

  49. Hal Lindberg says:

All of the above sounds very petty and silly. Do I want to belong to a group tangled in childish squabbling? Perhaps not

    • admin says:

It may sound petty and silly but this is the reality of an organisation that purports to being the “official voice” of naturism in the UK. Many comments state that unless you are “one of the chosen few” and “toe the line in their thinking” you will either be silenced or ousted.

There is definitely 1 person admin on their forum (and I won’t mention her name) who considers themselves judge, jury and executioner – cross them and every post is marked as “needing moderator approval”! Is this the joys and freedom of naturism?

  50. Hal Lindberg says:

Where are the joys and freedom of naturism in all this?

  51. Naturist Sally says:

The latest nonsense is that they are claiming a “survey” on naturism in the UK but it’s nothing of the sort https://www.bn.org.uk/news/information/about-bn/675-million-naturists-in-the-uk-r1187/ from 2,000 odd participants. Firstly, this was ONE question on naturism out of several that were conducted by Ipsos/MORI and NOT on naturism and was something like “have you ever skinny dipped/enjoyed social nudity..?” Secondly, how can an organisation with around 9,000 members claim to be the “voice” of naturism in the UK and represent that 6.75 million number (even if 1/10 th true)? It can’t.

As for the posts above about covid lockdown membership soaring. As a BN member, I can see the membership figures. What they are claiming is not evidenced from their own numbers and is utter b*** s***. It may have gone from just over 9,000 to slightly more over 9,000 but back down again as retention is terrible. So regarding relevance….this current BN regime are doing their best to make the movement irrelevant with (IMHO) lies like the above. Just silly and no need for it at all. Sad.

    • admin says:

Not sure how they got 6.75m from 2249 people surveryed – perhaps BN can explain that extrapolation? But I doubt it.
Also, having done some research, I can’t actually find the result of the poll Ipsos Mori apparently did – I can’t see it published anywhere. Is BN just making this up?

  52. Andrew Naylor says:

I frequently run on the beach in just shorts until clear of the village and then when a distance away I take then of for a swim. I will normally remain on the beach until I am dry. Many people have seen me naked at a distance, but if they turn to approach me I will put my shorts on.
How ever as I said many people have seen me and only a few complain, One was screaming into his phone because the police had told him I was doing nothing illegal. Finally on one occasion while swimming my shorts where stolen, leaving me to walk home naked. Nobody said a thing!

  53. Duncan Heenan says:

BN is a propaganda organisation, and is happy to bend the truth. I got expelled simply for asking questions about some of the stuff Bass & Welch put out. They operate a ‘cancel culture’ against anyone who values truth over the way they view the world.

    • Chris says:

      Hello Duncan,
Sorry, I’m posting this under an alias to avoid personal blowback from the beady eyes on the BN forum, but I have been reading the thread there that bears your name and the posts (from members of the EC and their allies) are giving me some cause to worry.
I’m not sure if any of the details have been passed on to you, but when David Ross questioned your mysterious disappearance, the replies given seem to suggest that the EC circumvented normal procedure in facilitating your removal.
Worse still, when other members queried why they would do this, the EC have tried to spin the situation as somehow “doing you a favour” by declining your renewal instead of expelling you. Even worse than that, a number of posters have been insinuating that you were expelled for unspecified “hate speech” on the forum (though it is being strongly hinted that this involved racism and homophobia.)
Try as I might, I’ve searched your old posts and couldn’t see anything that would constitute a breach of the rules, never mind lead to expulsion from the organisation. To me, this whole thing stinks to high heaven and I’m giving serious thought to not renewing my membership next year.
Frankly, I don’t trust either of the Marks and I get the feeling that they’re more interested in pushing their own personal agenda (with the enthusiastic assistance of John Weir as forum censor) rather than representing the interests of their members.
Perhaps the uptick in member numbers during the pandemic went to their collective head, but I fear that the toxic combination of hubris (getting involved in every crappy tv show that happens to feature nudity) and naΓ―vety (getting into bed with the tabloids; being wheeled out to publicly defend the above-mentioned crappy tv shows, etc, etc) will come back to bite them in the not-too-distant future.
I’m sorry to hear that you, as a member of BN for over four decades, had to suffer the indignity of being drummed out on what seem like trumped-up charges. One hopes that BN is able to change course before it crashes into the iceberg and brings down the entire organisation.
      Best wishes.

      • Duncan Heenan says:

Thanks Chris, you are right on all points. If you (or anyone else) wants the full story of my expulsion with links to the evidence, see
        https://forum.naturistactiongroup.co.uk/index.php?topic=514.0
(sorry can’t make a hyperlink, but cut & paste into a browser will do it).

Interestingly, BN membership has fallen back to the pre-pandemic level and continues it’s 2%p.a. long term decline. I remain a keen naturist, but it seems that BN’s version of Naturism isn’t what most naturists want.

What does β€œEC” mean in your posts?

  55. Guy H says:

Hi all, is this walk still a good naked walking track? The last post on here is September last year, just thinking that maybe things have changed.

  56. Guy Taddiford says:

Hi all, I notice that the last post on this topic was in early September, is it still a place that naturists go walking?

  57. Guy Taddiford says:

Hi, I’ve walked quite a few times in and around Milkham enclosure but not often from Milkham carpark, you do often encounter dog walkers, but this is usually first thing in the morning/ evening dog walks. I have also encountered Duke of Edinburgh walkers too, I did cover up when I saw them. Mid week is obviously better than weekends for less chance of bumping into others, and the school holidays has a chance of encounter the closer you are to Red Shoot campsite. The gravel paths have more chances of bikes which pop into view very quickly! And usually from behind which can catch you out!

  58. Guy Taddiford says:

Hi all, Thanks for your reply admin, I have noticed, (if I’m correct)that there is one female that has posted on this thread, are the walks attended by couples/single females, or is it just guys? I know from other naturist sites that they do tend to be more male posts than female. Be nice to walk with a mixed group.

    • Phil says:

It’d be nice to get some more females to join in. Unfortunately, I don’t know of any that are willing to join. But will keep an eye/ear out.

Also, (this is directed at Admin), would it be a good idea to set this up as a forum? I do check back now and then for new messages, but it’s not easy to navigate. I’m sure there are services out there that could make it possible.

      • admin says:

Hi Phil. There definately seems to be a lack of lady naturists who are willing to join us on walks – not sure the reason why. I know that the split between male/female naturists is biased toward us gents so that could also be a factor. Hoping to get some “advertising” out there this year and encourage more to join the group so hopefully more ladies will join as well.

As for forum, I did orginally have one on here but the maintenance was too time consuming (fitting it in with a full time job) and security was an issue too but that was a few years back. I will look into this again and see if anything has changed that means an implementation would work.

        • Phil says:

          Thanks for the reply.

I think any ‘real’ nudist male understands why many women would be reluctant to join us men on a walk, It’s a true shame, but completely understandable. I admit, I’m hesitant to join other men. But want to try it. It’d be interesting to hear the thoughts from the couple of ladies who have posted on here previously.

Also get the issue of admin on a forum. I’m an admin on a local FB group that has close to 75k members. There’s about six of us and it takes up a huge amount of time. Then you get no thanks for it, as certain people don’t realise you have a full time job and are volunteers to act as admin.

  59. Trevor Prout says:

I went there today Friday morning for the first time, raining and a bit cold but still done my first naked walk. I didn’t manage the fall walk, wasn’t
To sure if I was going the right way, l walked down a bit of a lane for while then turned around came back a bit then walked so far in the woods.

Will try again in a few weeks

    • admin says:

At least you went out there – well done. Keep us updated with your walks and any issues (if any) you come across.

      • Guy Taddiford says:

Went to do the walk yesterday, left carpark and headed out across open heath land. Didn’t see anyone else but the wind was quite cold, was ok in the sunshine behind the bushes when I had a picnic. Still very wet under foot so walking boots are a must.
Too cold for me in the wind, so turned around and back to carpark. Will try again later in the year when it’s warmer!

  60. Paul says:

Hi..I have sunbathed naked at Milkham. There are several gaps in the gorse and bracken that make suitable discreet dens for this. The only worry of course being ticks, but if vigilant, then one can avoid this problem.

I have walked quite a distance along the track from the car park, disrobing after about 15 minutes..clothes into backpack. I have encountered other walkers, but always careful.

    • admin says:

Not done any sunbathing at Milkham; have done at Ocknell (right next to the pond) and everyone I have met has not battered an eyelid at it. Let’s do more!

  61. Guy Taddiford says:

Hi, after trying a walk at Ocknell and abandoned it because of the cold wind, went to Milkham to walk there. Really very pleasant in the sunshine with the trees stopping the wind, did see a few people, dog walkers mainly, stopping to chat with one couple after covering up when I was quite close, they commented that I was more appropriately dressed for a walk than they were! Another was a lone women dogwalker who looked quite nervous so covered up and passed her, exchanged a hello and all was OK. No point in upsetting anyone, a very nice walk!

  62. Charles Bontrager says:

BN used to be a naturist org I admired but of late they seem to be losing their way as well as alienating good people in the pursuit of maintaining some bit of relevancy. I noticed they threw massive support behind Stephanie of Body Freedom only to find out she was all about promoting herself to the point that every one of her volunteer staff left and the program has disappeared into obscurity. They have also made a few more missteps in replacing key positions and additional long-time members are leaving. What are your thoughts? I know this blog appeared a few years ago but it is “same ****, different day” as they say.

    • admin says:

Having been out of BN for a couple of years now, I don’t know what’s going on at senior level – can imagine, as you say, “same ***, different day”. All I can say is that I have NEVER seen BN engage with social media or the press, they have never “gone out there”. Someone on Twitter says they do but when challenged to give 1 example, they couldn’t.

Have said for years that BN needs a complete overhaul but can’t see that happening. What I do see happening is that another organisation will be formed that will go much further than BN ever has or is willing to.

  63. Paul Sumner says:

What are the dates for the naked hikes..I use Milkham for naked sunbathing (someurkers now and then but ignore them). Is it a naked ramblers club that I can join?

    • admin says:

Hi Paul – we have a WhatsApp group that you can join; at the moment, it is more “anyone want to do a walk” rather than organised events. If you email me at the admin address with your number, I’ll add you to the group.

We are planning a meet at Meon Shore tomorrow if it’s not too late notice.

  64. Dave says:

Anyone tried recently? Weather starting to get better

  65. Robert says:

As of Thursday this car park was closed but just park overthe road

  66. Craig says:

I explore alot of naked walking areas. My favourite being within bolderwood in the evenings. Iv tried ocknell a few times it’s ok
Can I be added to the group

  67. John says:

I have a set route here which is a variation on the Ocknell walk but almost twice the distance, a ninety minutes brisk walk including Slufter’s Inclosure down as far as the road . I’ve done this a couple of times in July without seeing anyone apart from a distant cyclist , both times parking at Cadman’s Pool 7:30am Saturday morning. There’s potential to extend to Milkham too , maybe one for midweek when time permits.

Admin, I’ve sent a message requesting addition to whatsapp group.

  68. Paul says:

Hi sorry for replying so late..been off line for a while..please e mail me here with the group info I would like to be included..

Many thanks and look forward to hearing from you..my apologies once again for the late reply

  69. Paul Sumner says:

Hi and thank you for the invite..received today and accepted..looking forward to a few rambles over the coming months..
I have sunbathed naked at Milkham a few times, can be really pewceful and walked the long track from the car park, usually mid week when quiet. Hoping for further info on other walks
    Thank you again..Paul..

  70. Paul Sumner says:

Hi and thank you for the invite..received today and accepted..looking forward to a few rambles over the coming months..
I have sunbathed naked at Milkham a few times, can be really peaceful, also walked the long track from the car park, usually mid week when quiet. Hoping for further info on other walks
    Thank you again..Paul..

  71. Paul Sumner says:

Hi..may I ask you to resend the WhatsApp invite..I have deleted the group in error when tidying up my in box..Many thanks..Paul

  72. David Letts says:

We usually only go to European naturist resorts.
Otherwise we’re just naked at home.
We’d like to get INF cards, but they are only available through BN.
    You cannot join separately.
If BN are becoming irrelevant, how can a UK citizen get membership of INF?

    • admin says:

You are right. See https://members.inf-fni.org/ for more details. What we would need to do is prove that BN is irrelevant, does not care about it’s members and doesn’t support membership. There are numerous cases where people have been kicked out of BN for the only reason that they spoke out against the “leadership”.

  73. Richard pash says:

If the small rspb car park is full. There’s a big car park at east beach selsey,,, bit of a trek along the shoreline but doable.

  74. Sarah says:

This has always been one of my favourite beaches to strip off, but recent changes whether man made or from a storm have left us non textiles a lot more exposed than normal.

  75. Chris says:

The BN guide and what the law says are useful just in case. I was naked walking and berated by a most unpleanant and ignorant man. For coverup a wrap is best mine is semi see-through. I think something flesh coloured is ideal so that you are nude at a distance but who is to know if you coverup with a flesh coloured wrap later!

  76. Paul Wood says:

Hello, I have done a lot of walking naked alone but would like to experience some naturist walking within a group for a change. This location seems amazing. Would I be able to join the WhatsApp group please of it’s still going.

    Paul

    • admin says:

No problem Paul; just email your phone number to me and I’ll add you to the group. With the weather (hopefully) getting better, we’ll start some more walks.

  77. Robert says:

When i,m in the forest alot of lady dog walkers see me constantly and don,t say anything and just smile and walk on.

    • admin says:

You’ll find that most people don’t care – if anything, they might find it a bit strange as you normally don’t see people hiking nude but the more we do it, the more normal it will be. Keep going!

  78. Colin Gilbert says:

Hello I would love to join your group as I’m in Southampton.
    I’m a BN member

  79. Colin Gilbert says:

This sounds a brilliant walk and I’d love to do this route with someone experienced.

  80. Codge says:

As a newbie at naked in a public wooded area for example, I’ve yet to encounter the problems of hostility from others.
I’ve only met people on two occasions when nude.
The first was with an experienced NatRam member and we were swiftly passed by two young females in their early 20s running in our direction. We both covered as they approached and we both said a cherry hello,
    but received no reply.
The second time I was naked with just my wife who remained clothed at Cadmans pool in the forest. We hadn’t gone 100 metres and noticed a woman approaching. This took us by surprise and highlighted my inexperience in nude walking. My wife and I diverted off to the right and the lady went off in a different direction. I think I carried out the correct procedure on that occasion.
My wife has since made me a tartan skirt wrap with velcro for such occasions and I’m sure it will be needed.

    • admin says:

Hi Codge. Yes, being naked in public for the first time can be daunting even so when you encounter textiles and, believe me, can still be daunting for seasoned walkers – especially if you are walking alone. I would say if you were with your wife, there is a good chance that nothing negative would happen same as if you were in a group. You just need to be mindful of your own feelings and either bring a cover up or try to stick to more out of the way routes. The fromer is my preference. After a while, you’ll soon be able to guage the best action for the scenario.

  81. Codge says:

Some great walks and hope to do some very soon
