Quick Guide To Naked Hiking

Guide to naked hikingThis post is just a quick guide to naked hiking. A few things for you to consider when you’re planning your first naked hiking trip into the wilderness. If we’ve missed anything out, please feel free to comment.

Here is a list of things to think about and they’re in no particular order.

  1. Always let someone know where you’re going and how long you’ll be. If anything untoward should happen, at least there is a rescue plan in place.
  2. Make sure your mobile phone is fully charged; you’ll be surprised where you can get a signal.
  3. Food and drink; always make sure you have plenty of water with you and some snacks too. Energy bars are quite good but obviously this depends on how long you’re planning on going out for.
  4. First aid kit is quite useful. Make sure to include a “tick kit” because those nasty little spiders can suddenly appear on your body without warning.
  5. Map and/or route planner – make sure you are well aware of the route you’re taking and any obstacles or terrain anomalies are planned for.
  6. Appropriate footwear – sometimes trainers are fine for most walks but more adventurous walks might need walking boots.
  7. Lightweight rucksack is useful for putting everything in.
  8. If you’re new to naked hiking, the a quick cover up might be useful too. This is something you can put on very quickly should you encounter another person. As you become more seasoned, you may well dispense with this totally.
  9. Camera (or mobile phone camera) for taking those obligatory naked selfies or just for catching that pic of a deer or snake.
  10. Small survival kit might be worth investing in; it will allow you to make a fire (for boiling water, cooking, keeping warm) in the unlikely event you get lost/have an accident.

I’m sure some other people will be able to contribute to this list but really it’s more about being sensible. I have been hiking naked for years and never had any problem whatsoever and have also not heard of anything either.

Have fun!

The BN guide and what the law says are useful just in case. I was naked walking and berated by a most unpleanant and ignorant man. For coverup a wrap is best mine is semi see-through. I think something flesh coloured is ideal so that you are nude at a distance but who is to know if you coverup with a flesh coloured wrap later!
